Hangzhou: Nestled in the heart of China’s Yangtze River Delta, Hangzhou is a city where ancient tradition meets modern innovation, offering an enchanting blend of natural splendour, cultural richness, and cutting-edge technology. Known as the "Paradise on Earth," Hangzhou has captivated visitors for centuries—from Marco Polo, who praised it as "the most splendid city in the world," to modern-day travellers seeking its serene landscapes and vibrant urban life. The crown jewel of Hangzhou is West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has inspired poets, artists, and emperors for over a thousand years, which is just a few steps away from the proposed meeting venue. Encircled by misty hills, pagodas, and willow-lined pathways, the lake is a fantastic place for various outdoor activities. A leisurely boat ride or a stroll along its shores reveals hidden temples, ancient bridges, and the famed "Ten Scenic Views of West Lake," each a masterpiece of classical Chinese landscape design. Beyond the lake, the Grand Canal, another UNESCO-listed treasure, weaves through the city, offering a glimpse into China’s imperial past. Once the lifeline of trade between Beijing and Hangzhou, today it’s a living museum. Hangzhou is the birthplace of Longjing tea, one of China’s most prized green teas. A visit to the Longjing Village tea plantations lets you witness the meticulous art of tea-picking and savour freshly brewed cups amidst terraced hills. For deeper immersion, the China National Tea Museum offers insights into the rituals and history of tea culture.
Hangzhou is not just about history—it’s a forward-thinking metropolis with innovation. As the home of Alibaba, it’s a global hub for e-commerce and digital innovation. The city is also home to seamlessly integrates technology into daily life, from cashless payments to AI-enhanced museums like the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Museum, where augmented reality brings ancient artefacts to life.
